{"id":3880,"date":"2024-01-10T16:05:24","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T16:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fiscalresponsibility.ng\/?p=3880"},"modified":"2024-01-10T16:05:24","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T16:05:24","slug":"imf-opens-capacity-development-support-for-frc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fiscalresponsibility.ng\/?p=3880","title":{"rendered":"IMF opens capacity development support for FRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"bt_bb_wrapper\"><div><\/div>\n<div class=\"top-stories-head\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/realnewsmagazine.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMF.jpg?fit=290%2C174&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"top-stories-head-meta\">\n<h2 class=\"top-stories-head-meta-title\">IMF opens capacity development support for FRC<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>THE Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC),on Wednesday inaugurated a two-week capacity development training\u00a0 support organised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of FRC, Victor Muruako, said that the training would enable the commission to do more to support the management of the economy under President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>Muruako who commended the IMF for its support to the commission over the years, also commended Tinubu for his bold fiscal reforms and practical war against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransparency and accountability have been prioritised in fiscal affairs in recent times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president\u2019s action against officials in his cabinet accused of financial impropriety is an indication that the war against corruption is real,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the FRC mandate was enormous and sensitive to the survival of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe survival of Nigeria depends on the ability to run a fiscally sound and healthy country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis depends on a set of rules which are meant to be executed by people in public office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis programme is coming up at a critical moment when the government is enabling critical fiscal reforms,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, the leader of the IMF team, Kubai Khasiani, said that the training would be in the area of Public Financial Management.<\/p>\n<p>Khasiani,who is the Regional Advisor,\u00a0Public Financial Management of the IMF said that the fund had a Capacity Development Centre with an office in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe provide support to six countries in the West Africa region, which includes Nigeria,\u2019\u2019 he said.
